Bypassing

Letting go of your suffering and bypassing it aren’t the same thing (but I think it’s easy to mistake the two). One requires acceptance, whereas the other is based in ignorance.

It’s the difference between acknowledging you have a broken leg, compared to just trying to run it off: ignoring the pain, though it might feel better to begin with, just leads to more suffering, until it becomes impossible to ignore; acceptance, on the other hand, invites healing.

Neither is going to be easy to deal with - it is suffering, after all. It’s just a question of how long you want to endure that broken leg, I guess.

Can you notice what you’re trying to ignore?
